WELCOME TO THE
Aggie Polo Club at UC Davis
The Aggie Polo Club is a registered student organization at UC Davis. Our goal is to teach students about horsemanship and polo and have a great time doing it! In 2021, the sport of Horse Polo finally returned to UC Davis after 11 years of inactivity!
For many years, the UC Davis Polo Program operated as an intercollegiate club sport and as a US Polo Association-registered intercollegiate team, playing the likes of Stanford, Cal Poly, UVA, Texas A&M, and more.
Last year, our competitive team took home the 2021 Western Division Regional Championship trophy for the US Polo Association's Intercollegiate league, made it to Nationals, won the Parade Marshall's Choice Award after entering in the first UC Davis Picnic Day Parade post-Covid, and started an inclusive lesson program for UC Davis students of all riding levels.
The Aggie Polo Club is managed by UC Davis students and coached by an alumnus of the original UC Davis Polo Program, Bonnie Magill. The club offers weekly lessons to students interested in polo. On weekdays, we practice at the Sutter Buttes Polo Club in Yuba City, 45 minutes from campus. It's a great alternative to the Equestrian Center's Prices and so much fun! There is absolutely no riding or horse experience necessary. Horses and equipment are provided, bringing boots is suggested, and any other personal equipment is welcome.
Fall Quarter 2022 Updates!
After a much needed vacation for both our horse and human athletes, the Aggie Polo Club is excited to announce that we're gearing up for another fantastic year of polo. We had one heck of a first year--winning the Intercollegiate Western Regional Championship for Women's Polo, placing top 4 in the nation for our division, and taking home the Parade Marshall's Choice Award at the first UC Davis Picnic Day Parade since the pandemic. . .and we're hungry for more! We've made some changes to the club's structure--scroll down and click on "Try Polo" to learn more!
The Aggie Polo Club at UC Davis aims to bring the sport of polo to UC Davis students and our local community in a way that is both exciting and accessible. Students of all levels and backgrounds can learn more about horsemanship, the fundamentals of polo, and have the opportunity to play in a non-competitive environment.
